Welcome to Y-Stabal-Glyn-Isa, a cosy ground floor retreat tucked within the peaceful grounds of a 17th-century estate near Conwy in North Wales. Once a working stable, the cottage has been lovingly transformed into a stylish self-catering escape, blending original beams and historic character with modern comforts such as Wi-Fi, USB charging points and a proper coffee machine to start the day right.
The beamed lounge sets the tone with deep sofas and a large Smart TV, the perfect place to curl up after a day exploring castles or coastlines. Adjoining this is the light-filled conservatory, a serene spot to linger with a book or simply take in the views over your private enclosed garden, orchard and patio.
The kitchen has everything you’ll need to prepare anything from a leisurely breakfast to a full evening meal, with thoughtful touches to make self-catering effortless. There’s also a dining space for those meals that deserve to be enjoyed rather than rushed, whether that’s a hearty dinner after a mountain walk or a celebratory spread washed down with a bottle of something local.
Two ensuite bedrooms provide comfort and privacy. The main bedroom comes with a king-size bed, wardrobe and dressing table, alongside a generous ensuite with shower, vanity unit and toilet. The second bedroom has a double bed, its own dressing table and a smaller ensuite shower room. Both are designed with relaxation in mind, combining period features with contemporary convenience.
Step outside and you’ll find your own enclosed garden with outdoor seating and a patio, perfect for breakfast in the morning sun or an evening glass of wine under the stars. Free on-site parking is included, so you can easily head off to explore, though many guests find it hard to leave the tranquillity of the estate itself.
Warm, comfortable and perfectly placed between mountains and sea, Y-Stabal-Glyn-Isa is a wonderful base for couples, friends or solo travellers. And if you’re travelling as part of a larger group, the Glyn Isa estate also offers two additional holiday cottages, Ty-Coets-Glyn-Isa and Porthdy-Glyn-Isa, both available through Dioni. Together, they make the estate ideal for families or friends who want to holiday side by side, with the luxury of having their own space.
Y-Stabal-Glyn-Isa lies within the historic Glyn Isa Country House estate, surrounded by ten acres of private gardens, woodland and pastureland on the edge of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park. Just a mile away, the village of Rowen offers a welcoming pub and scenic walks, while the medieval town of Conwy with its castle, harbour and famous town walls is only a short drive away.
Within three miles you can dip your toes in the sand at the coast, while further afield the Victorian seaside town of Llandudno tempts with its pier, tramway to the Great Orme and sweeping promenade. National Trust gems such as Bodnant Gardens and historic Plas Mawr are also close at hand, offering a different pace of exploration.
From the estate itself, guests can enjoy direct access to countryside trails, wildlife spotting and the kind of peace that makes you forget what day it is. And with two more self-catering properties, Ty-Coets and Porthdy, on the same estate, it’s a perfect choice for those who’d like to share the beauty of the Conwy Valley with friends or extended family, while keeping their own little patch of calm.
