Rural pet friendly retreat near Criccieth with Yr Wyddfa views, garden, king size bed, and seasonal farm activities including fishing and shooting.[Read more...]

Rhos Ddu is a two-bedroom countryside retreat tucked away just outside Rhoslan, near the seaside town of Criccieth. It’s a property that invites you to slow down, breathe deep, and soak in the sights of Eryri (Snowdonia), with the mighty Yr Wyddfa visible from your upstairs window.

Set on a quiet lane, this detached farmhouse sits amidst open fields and rural calm. A large private garden wraps around the property, perfect for morning coffee in the sun or long, lazy lunches on the patio. For those bringing bikes, surfboards, or other outdoor gear, there’s a garden shed with a lock to keep everything safe and secure.

The location is ideal for lovers of the outdoors. A cycle route runs past the end of the entrance lane, and from the front door you can enjoy a fairly easy four-mile circuit via Lôn Coed, a walk much loved by dog owners and steeped in Welsh history, literature, and poetry.

Inside, you’ll find space to relax, stretch out, and feel immediately at home. The kitchen and dining area is well laid out and smartly equipped, with oak cabinets, granite worktops, and all the kit you need to prepare a proper meal, or just plate up something delicious from the deli in town. The adjacent lounge is a cosy space for evenings in, with a wood-effect stove, comfortable seating and a touch of classic countryside character.

Upstairs, the main bedroom features a king-size bed, calming tones, and a sleek en-suite shower room. Wake up here and you’ll catch views of Yr Wyddfa on a clear day, arguably one of the best ways to start the morning. The second bedroom offers a double bed, and the family bathroom includes a bath with shower over, basin, and toilet.

While the house is a comfortable retreat in its own right, Rhos Ddu also offers something a little different. As part of a working farm, there’s the option to enjoy brown trout fishing or rough shooting in the winter months, both by prior arrangement. Pets are welcome, though this cottage will appeal just as much to non-pet owners looking for a rural bolthole with charm, comfort, and glorious mountain views.

Rhos Ddu is located just outside the village of Rhoslan, a peaceful spot just a short drive from the coast at Criccieth. Surrounded by open countryside, the cottage enjoys views of Yr Wyddfa and immediate access to Eryri’s epic landscapes.

You're less than 10 minutes from Criccieth, where you’ll find a castle perched above the bay, a shingle beach, and plenty of places to grab an ice cream, a pint, or a plate of something local and delicious. The Art Deco Dylan’s is a firm favourite, set right on the water.

Nearby, Porthmadog and Pwllheli offer harbours, shops and railway connections - including the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways for steam-powered sightseeing. Beaches like Black Rock Sands, and walking routes galore are all within easy reach.

Back at base, you've got free on-premises parking, a large private garden, and that rare combination of rural isolation and coastal convenience. With Eryri National Park as your backdrop, it’s a cracking spot for exploring - or just doing absolutely nothing at all.
