This traditional old barn has been converted into a fantastic farm holiday cottage near Betws Y Coed in Eryri (Snowdonia), North Wales. As well as providing some lovely holiday accommodation staying at Hafod-Iwrch gives you that chance to taste the farming life we’ve all wondered about as some time or other. Taking the time to chat to the unbelievably cute piglets in the field next door or feeding the chickens on the other side of the barn or just watching the lambs gambolling across the fields as you enjoy a glass of wine on the patio at the end of the day.
Inside the living area is one big open plan space. A comfortable leather sofa and armchair surrounds a very welcoming log fire and a large flat screen TV. The kitchen area and dining table sits at the other end of the room. The kitchen is very well equipped and includes a modern electric oven and hob, dishwasher and large fridge freezer. The dining table and chairs are a contemporary oak design.
Some impressive welsh slate flags cover the floor made to feel luxuriously warm by a modern electric powered under-floor heating system. The high vaulted ceilings give the cottage a great sense of light and space while carefully selected fixtures and fitting ads a touch of style and elegance.
There are two bedrooms either end of the cottage. The first double bedroom has the advantage of a large en-suite shower room. There are oak floorboards in the bedrooms. Some lovely ledge and brace solid wood doors and modern oak beds and bedside tables compliment this.
The twin bedroom is very similar and, like the rest of the cottage, is dotted with some tasteful soft furnishings and blinds. The adjoining family bathroom has a shower over bath arrangement as well as a wc and washbasin.

The cottage is located on a small holding farm near Capel Garmon some 3 miles from the ever popular Betws Y Coed.
North Wales and Eryri (Snowdonia National Park) is fast becoming a mecca for adventure sports of course. Blaenau Ffestiniog some 20 minutes to the south of the cottage is a particular hot spot. A 4 man zip line will carry you high above the valley floor. Once you're finished you might like to descend below ground to experience the amazing Bounce Below. A system of underground trampoline nets suspended within the historic slate caverns. If that isn’t enough you could have a go at the internationally renowned down hill mountain biking trails also located in the town.
Historical and cultural attractions are also a big draw for a lot of our guests. Narrow gauge steam railways, historical industrial sites and ancient castles and fortifications are dotted all over this part of the world. Caernarfon Castle, Harlech Castle and Conwy Castle are all within an hours drive.
And a renewed interest in our food and agricultural heritage has led to a resurgence in fine dining and farmers markets. The Bodnant Welsh Food Centre, 30 minutes to the north, is highly recommended.

From the North (A55) - Take A470 to Llanrwst. Continue on A470 out of Llanrwst signposted 'Betws Y Coed 4 miles'. After 2 miles take left turning signposted 'Capel Garmon 2.5 miles / Nebo 4.75 miles'. Continue on this unclassified road, driving straight through village of Capel Garmon, and after 3.2 miles take left turning signposted 'Nebo'. Drive another 200m before taking first right signposted 'Moel Yr Iwrch Isaf'. Drive down the lane, over the cattle grid and continue down the lane to the farm.
From the South (Corwen): Take the A5 direction Bangor for 18 miles. At a small cross roads turn right onto an unnamed road direction Capel Garrmon (2 miles) and Nebo (2 ¾ miles). Continue up this country lane for 1.2 miles before turning right direction Nebo. Drive another 200m before taking the first right direction Moel Yr Iwrch Isaf. Drive to the end of the lane. Hafod-Iwrch is the right hand cottage in a long barn conversion just below the farmhouse.
