Cosy pet-friendly barn conversion on a peaceful farm near the beach. Real fire, countryside views, and walks right from the doorstep. A maximum of 2 dogs are welcome at this property. [Read more...]

Tucked away in a lush green valley just a few miles from the Ceredigion coast, Derwen-Y-Rhiw is a charming barn conversion with bags of rustic character, two comfy bedrooms, and all the creature comforts you need for a relaxing farm holiday near the beach.

Step through the front door and you’re greeted by solid stone walls, exposed beams, and a cheerful log fire that practically insists you pour a glass of red and forget about emails for a while. The living room, with its warm woods, squashy sofas, and smart TV, is the heart of the cottage—ideal for rainy day films or post-walk cuppas. Adjacent is the light, well-equipped kitchen with a dining area that seats four and a door leading out to your own patio—cheese board and wine not included, but highly encouraged.

Off the kitchen, you’ll find a twin bedroom with views across the courtyard—perfect for kids or snore-prone companions. There’s also a modern bathroom with a shower-over-bath combo and a heated towel rail for toasty toes.

Climb the stairs (or sneak in the secret back entrance) and you’ll arrive at the master bedroom: a calm, sloping-roofed retreat with a standard double bed, owl-shaped bedside lamps, and a Velux window for stargazing. A second door leads to external stone steps for a slightly dramatic (but charmingly unnecessary) exit.

Outside, a raised stone patio area offers countryside views and a front-row seat to the slower pace of life. Guests are welcome to roam the grounds, say hello to Blossom the Shetland pony, and Kune Kune pigs, or nab some fresh eggs from the chickens. There’s even a shared laundry room and dedicated off-road parking to keep things easy.

If you're travelling with kids, there’s a play area with a slide and swings, plus a stream to explore and gentle walks right from the door. And if you’re travelling with four-legged family members, don’t worry—Derwen-Y-Rhiw is pet-friendly and near both a pub (within a mile) and the beach (within 3 miles).

One of five lovingly converted outbuildings on this peaceful family-run farm, Derwen-Y-Rhiw is as well-suited to those craving activity as it is to those in need of nothing more than a fire, a view, and a good book.

Nestled in a quiet valley on a traditional Welsh farm, Derwen-Y-Rhiw offers guests a chance to truly unwind in nature while staying within a short distance of the coast and charming local towns.

The cottage is part of a small collection of converted outbuildings, each carefully restored and set around a central courtyard with views of fields, woodland, and grazing sheep. There’s a children’s play area with a slide, swings, and picnic-perfect grass, as well as footpaths that begin right from the doorstep.

For beach days, Aberporth and Tresaith are just a short drive away, both offering sandy shores, good ice cream, and surf-worthy waves. The Ceredigion Coast Path is easily accessible and ideal for walks with sea views and porpoise spotting. Further afield, you can explore the pretty harbour town of New Quay, the iconic white chapel at Mwnt, or venture inland to discover the hills of Bluestone Country.

Local pubs and shops are close by for essentials, but with wildlife, woodland and even a Shetland pony on site, you might be forgiven for simply staying put.
