Certws-Y-Rhiw is a beautifully converted one-bedroom coach house, nestled into a peaceful, green valley just a stone's throw from the Cambrian coast. One of five holiday cottages on a quiet small holding farm, it's the perfect bolthole for couples, solo travellers and anyone keen to ditch the rush hour in favour of rustling leaves and birdsong.
Step inside and you're greeted by a classic cottage set-up: a comfy two-seater sofa, roaring log fire (because this is Wales, and we do fires properly), and a surprisingly sleek little kitchen with everything you need to cook up a romantic meal, or just reheat a supermarket curry with style. There's a dining table for two tucked by the window, and the overall space balances rustic charm with modern comfort.
Head upstairs, past a satisfyingly narrow stone-slit window and you'll find a bedroom that pulls out all the romantic stops. Think exposed stone walls, chunky beams, and a wrought-iron bed with memory foam topper and touch-lamps for reading (or mood lighting). It's like sleeping in a period drama, but with a much better mattress.
The en-suite bathroom might be small, but it's smart and spotless, with a Roper Rhodes rainwater shower over the bath and a heated towel rail to toast your toes after a long beach walk.
Back outside, French doors lead to a raised timber deck overlooking a lush paddock, a perfect breakfast spot with views that beat any screen saver. With a laundry room on site, parking right outside, and even fresh eggs available from the owner's hens, it's the sort of place that quietly ticks every box. There's also a shared play area, so if you're travelling with the extended family and booking multiple cottages, the smalls can entertain themselves while the grown-ups sip something cold on the deck.
Pet-friendly, full of character, and set within striking distance of golden beaches and charming coastal towns, Certws-Y-Rhiw offers the kind of escape you'll be recommending to your friends, after you've rebooked it for next year.
Certws-Y-Rhiw sits in a tranquil valley just outside the bustling town of Aberteifi (Cardigan), and a mere hop from the beautiful beaches of the Cambrian Coast. Surrounded by woodland and pasture, the cottage looks out across a paddock and shares the site with four other charming barn conversions on a peaceful farm.
You’re within three miles of several sandy beaches, Aberporth, Tresaith, and Penbryn are all within easy reach and perfect for swimming, walking or trying to spot dolphins from the cliffs. The nearest pub is less than a mile away, ideal for lazy lunches or cosy evening pints.
The immediate surroundings include private grounds to explore, a children's play area, and nearby countryside walks straight from the door. Cardigan town is a 10-minute drive away and offers independent shops, a theatre, cafés, and the restored Cardigan Castle for a dash of heritage.
Further afield but still within a 20-mile radius you’ll find the mystical Preseli Hills, the National Trust site of Cilgerran Castle, and even boat trips along the Teifi Estuary. Whether you're up for a hike, a paddle, or just a quiet book on the deck, this spot delivers all the rural romance with none of the faff.

Turn right immediately opposite the school and follow the lane down the hill for about a mile, bearing right at the bottom just before the bridge.
