An elegantly informal home in a stunning location, Uwch-Mynydd sleeps eight with sea views to Bardsey Island and across Cardigan Bay. This beautiful farmhouse is surrounded by rolling green hills and green fields. A fantastic position where you access the hidden coves and beaches of the peninsula and only a short drive to the pretty seaside village of Aberdaron.
Neighbours is not something you will need to consider when staying at Uwch-Mynydd; spending time out in the garden enjoying those views will be great during the summer months. The inside of this cottage is just as fantastic with some little treasures to be found along the way.
The first of which is the Aga in the farm style kitchen along with the under heated slate floor. A blend of modern and shabby chic makes this kitchen everything you would expect from a holiday cottage in North Wales. Lots of storage cupboards and workspace will make catering for your group enjoyable – if you have never cooked on Aga before, don’t worry, they are easy to use and I always think the food tastes better. There is a WC and utility room with a washer / dryer just off from the back of the kitchen.
A galley style dining room leads through from the kitchen with a large traditional style dining table and chairs alongside a traditional, full-size grandfather clock - set against the simplicity of the slate floors and little else these pieces look fantastic.
The dining room leads onto the sitting room which has a lovely feel to it – again, simple with wingback chairs alongside plump sofas and statement furniture in bold colours. A log burner is centre place and makes the room.
Finally, the first of three double bedrooms is located on the ground floor. Complete with ensuite with a shower, WC and basin. You have beautiful views from this room along with access to the garden through glass doors.
Upstairs takes you to the master bedroom. You’ll have to pull straws for this room as the traditional style tub bath in the room is a great feature – there is also an ensuite with a shower, WC and basin. The other double and the remaining twin room share the family bathroom with a shower, bath, WC and basin. All the rooms are beautifully finished with the twin room boasting gold, art deco style beds frames. The bathrooms wouldn’t look out of place in a boutique hotel with their modern, clean and simple features and units. There is a second 1st floor sitting room located at the top of the stairs which looks out towards Bardsey island – a great place to read a book!

At the property itself, you have the luxury of lots of outside space – a secure garden with views across cardigan bay towards the Rhinog mountains is the perfect backdrop when making use of the hot tub and enjoying some al fresco dining. A short walk up the hill behind the house will give you views of Ireland on a clear day.
Fitting everything there is to do on the Pen Llyn (Llyn Peninsula) into your holiday will be your only issue! Starting on the north side, you have the secret coves and beaches; whistling sands and Nefyn beginning the ones you should certainly visit – Nefyn is also home to the Ty Coch Inn where they have great food and live music on the beach during the summer months.
On the south side, Aberdaron which is close to the cottage is a lovely little fishing village to visit and where you can get a boat over to Bardsey Island for the day. Abersoch of course is the main place to go for surfing, the whole village has a great atmosphere – lots of places to eat and drink. A little secret hideaway is the restaurant on the beach just outside Abersoch in Llanbedrog.
Pwllheli and Criccieth are further to the East and larger towns where you can get supplies and with more shopping opportunities; there is a market in Pwllheli during the week.
A great place to visit if you have small ones in tow is Glasfryn Parc where you’ll find wakeboarding, karting, clay pigeon short – you name it, they have it and all very reasonably priced. Walking, cycling, sailing, surfing, to name but a few are all on your doorstep. The Wales Coastal Path goes around the whole of the peninsula and therefore you can pick up and drop off along the path for different walks.

From the East, after passing through the village of Sarn Meyllteyrn, continue on the B4413 for 5 miles. As the road begins to drop down into Aberdaron, take a right-hand turn/fork direction Uwchmynydd and continue for 1 mile. As the road drops down steeply and bends to the left, take the 2nd of two right turns, direction Uwchmynydd, and continue for a further 0.5 miles. The road bends right and up, continue for another 50m before taking a hidden left turn onto a private farm track. Pen Y Bryn is at the end of this track.
