Stabal-Llanfair is a two bedroom bijoux holiday cottage between the mountains and sea. It’s an 18th century stone built cottage which started life as stables and a hayloft before being converted into a home in a great location making a unique getaway. Walking distance from the beach and within easy access of the surrounding mountains and just south of the famous castle town of Harlech, there is so much to do on the doorstep.
The best way to describe this bijoux holiday cottage between the mountains and sea is like a boutique style hotel that has been put into a stone cottage – beautiful, plush soft furnishings, great colour choices all with a touch of glam. The arrangement is so that the living area is on the first floor and the bedrooms are on the ground floor. Let’s start upstairs first.
A big, open plan kitchen, dining room and sitting room with a high vaulted ceiling and wooden floorboards. The interiors are lovely and the many windows allow in lots of light while the log burner adds to the warmth and cosy feel to the place. The kitchen has everything you need to cater during your time here and include additional touches like the stylish kettle, cutlery and china which make it feel luxurious.
Downstairs there is one double and one bunk room. Beautifully finished with thick carpets and great coloured interiors, the bedrooms are perfectly inviting. The bathroom is also located down here and is a shower over bath with WC and washbasin - a grey, modern colour scheme.
There is a large shared lawned garden with several seating areas which provide views of the sea, open farmland and surrounding hills.
Stabal-Llanfair is 2 miles south of Harlech, which along with the famous Castle, has a number of great cafes and restaurants along with a few shops. 5 minutes from the nearest beach, you are very close to enjoy one of the many blue flag beaches we have in the area.
15 minutes to the South will bring you to Barmouth - a larger town with a better selection of places to eat and shop as well as a beach, fairground, skatepark and a great harbour and prom.
Porthmadog is to the North and again a bigger town with cafes, bars and restaurants as well as the larger supermarkets where you can get all of your supplies for the week. The Ffestiniog Steam railway is located here and is a great way to see the Eryri landscape.
There are so many of the great activities within a relatively short drive away. Portmeirion Village is only a 10-minute drive away, Zip World in Blaenau Ffestiniog 30 minutes as are the Coed Y Brenin Mountain bike trails. 40 minutes to the foot of Snowdon, 30 minutes to Cadair Idris.
Plenty of walking and cycling trails really close to the house - you really are so well placed to enjoy all aspects Eryri has to offer.
From the north (Harlech) after leaving Harlech on the A496, take the second left turn, direction Llanfair (Ignoring the village sign of Llanfair near the first left). Continue on this un-named road heading back on yourself for 100m. Stabal-Llanfair is a stone-faced building facing the road with an external stone staircase.
From the south (Barmouth) take the A496 towards Harlech for approximately 9 miles. After passing through the village of Llanbedr continue for another 1 miles before entering a 40mph speed zone. At the top of a steep hill turn right onto an un-named road direction Llanfair. Continue north for another 100m. Stabal-Llanfair is a stone-faced building facing the road with an external stone staircase.
