Tucked away on a quiet hillside lane within walking distance of Beaumaris, Rallt-Goch-Bach is a beautiful cosy cottage overlooking Beaumaris Bay. Sleeping six people across three bedrooms, this property packed full of character and charm and in the ideal location to explore the fabulous scenery and attractions on offer in Anglesey. This hillside setting means that most rooms are on slightly different levels, with a number of steps leading between them.

The coastal blue front door of the property opens into a comfortable and bright lounge area, with timber ceiling beams and a warm log burner built into the gable end wall, on a slate hearth. The exposed brick of the fireplace, and the large exposed wooden lintel show the character and age of the property. The walls, painted a bright white, are dotted with coastal images and prints - a theme that runs throughout the cottage. Three fabric sofas are positioned around a coffee table in the centre of the room, all facing the fireplace and a large TV in the corner of the room. The grey blue furniture is complemented by patterned cushions, adding flair and colour.

A doorway from the lounge leads down a few steps into the dining room. A gorgeous room with oak flooring and chunky traditional furniture, along with large printed maps of Ynys Môn (Anglesey) and North Wales on the walls, perfect to plan adventures over dinner. The centrepiece of the room is a large wooden dining table seating six, along with a sideboard unit and mirror over. An armchair sits in the corner of the room next to a standard lamp - a perfect little corner for relaxing with a book. Brightly coloured light fittings sit above the dining table, creating a quirky and colourful vibe.

To the rear of the property, access from both the lounge and dining room lead to a spacious galley kitchen with heated tiled floor. Modern kitchen units finished in a dark blue with white stone effect worktops sit alongside a large range cooker and hob, freestanding full height fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. Recesses in the opposite wall allow storage space and shelving for glassware and other items, and a breakfast table sits against the wall, seating four. A downstairs shower room can be accessed from the kitchen, including a modern walk in shower cubicle, WC and basin. The white tiled walls are dotted with further coastal style prints, a reminder of the property's location.

The first of Rallt-Goch-Bach's two downstairs bedrooms is located to the right of the kitchen at the rear of the property. A couple of steps lead down to the compact but perfectly formed double room. A double bed with grey fabric headboard is located in the centre of the rear wall with a bedside table and lamp either side. A pine chest of drawers sits opposite the bed providing clothes storage space. The second double room completes the downstairs layout. Accessed from the dining room down two steps, this larger double room features windows to two aspects providing fabulous views across to Beaumaris to the east and the Menai Straits and mainland to the south. The double bed is flanked by two quirky wooden bedside tables with brightly shaded lamps. A pine chest of drawers, full height free standing mirror and clothes storage basket also feature in the room.

Steps lead up from the lounge of the beautiful cosy cottage overlooking Beaumaris Bay to the first floor, where the layout comprises of a twin bedroom and bathroom, again on split levels. The stunning twin bedroom is built into the eaves of the property, with the exposed timber beams of the structure running through. Two wooden framed single beds sit against the gable wall, separated by bedside table and lamp. A rustic wooden chest of drawers sits under the dormer window and a vanity unit with basin and mirror over is located on the wall opposite the beds, A small free standing wooden towel rail sits next to the sink unit. The walls, again, are dotted with coastal prints. A number of steps lead up to the bathroom, which is effectively an en-suite to this twin room. The quirky bathroom layout makes the best use of the vaulted ceilings with countertop space and bathtub with coastal blue wooden panels to the front. Décor is typically coastal - seagull ornaments and patterned blinds, glassware with seashells and lighthouse paintings all complement the views out to sea from this room.

The hillside setting of Rallt-Goch-Bach provides tons of character. The whitewashed exterior of the old building contrasts beautifully with the blue tones of the front door and wooden fascias. A private parking area is set off to the right of the property and there is a large private garden to the rear with elevated decking area. Perfect views and a perfect location to unwind after a day of exploring Anglesey. Heading uphill, Beaumaris Golf Course is only 200 metres away for the golf lovers of the group. A downhill walk leads down to the shores of the Menai Strait - the strip of water that separates Anglesey from the mainland of North Wales. It's less than a mile to walk into the centre of Beaumaris, a pretty coastal town with stunning Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian architecture. The town is full of independent shops, eateries and pubs. The pier at Beaumaris is also the starting point for a number of boat cruises taking in local sights such as Puffin Island, where Puffins (amongst a number of other seabird species) can be found nesting between April and June. Beaumaris' largest attraction is Beaumaris Caste, built between 1295 and 1330 by the English King Edward I during his conquest of Wales. The castle surrounded by a moat, is operated as a tourist attraction by Cadw and visitors can wander amongst the ruins and learn of the history.

Heading further afield in any direction from the beautiful cosy cottage overlooking Beaumaris Bay, there are a wealth of beauty spots to be found on this stunning island. A fifteen minute drive to the very eastern tip of the island leads to Penmon Point, with its large shingle beach overlooking the stunning Trwyn Du Lighthouse just offshore. With a backdrop of Puffin Island and the North Wales coastline, Penmon Point is a stunning spot that shouldn't be missed. The eastern coast of the Island has some fabulous beaches and seaside resorts such as Benllech Bay, Red Wharf Bay and Traeth Lligwy.

Heading west from Beaumaris, the main road leads into the town of Menai Bridge which is lovely to explore and provides the opportunity get up close to the actual Menai Bridge - an imposing suspension bridge built by Thomas Telford in 1826 as the world’s first iron suspension bridge. There a layby on the A5 just west of the town which provides fabulous views of the bridge and the Carneddau Mountains in the background. Continuing west, one of the most popular beauty spots in Anglesey is the stunning Ynys Llanddwyn (Llanddwyn Island) which can be accessed from Newborough Beach. This tidal island is steeped in history, with links to the story of Santes Dwynwen, the Welsh patron saint of lovers. A number of walking trails cross the island to the fabulous lighthouses at the tip. It's romantic and beautiful, but be careful to check tide times so as not to get stuck.

There are a number of family friendly attractions on Anglesey that shouldn't be missed such as Anglesey Sea Zoo and Pili Palas which are both enjoyable, educational and conservational. Sweet toothed guests should head inland towards Melin Llynon, the site of a windmill dating back to the 1770's. Raising funds to bring the windmill back into full operation, the owner (a famed patisserie chef) has evolved his business creating chocolate bars (Siocled) and more recently launched Mônuts - delicious donuts created on site that shouldn't be missed. There is something for everyone on Anglesey, it's an island with a relaxing charm that is a great base for a North Wales holiday.
