An impressive and sprawling property, Llys-Tanwg is a unique holiday cottage with stunning views over Cardigan Bay, located on the outskirts of Harlech. With eight bedrooms, sleeping up to fifteen guests, this beautiful two storey detached house is located in an elevated position with unobstructed views over the stunning coast of North West Wales. Perfect for gatherings of large groups of friends or family, the property is set in a quiet and private location, ideal for exploring the coast and nearby mountains. With a games room, sauna and hot tub included, it's the perfect spot for a relaxing break.

Accessed via a private driveway, this beautiful house dates back to the 1920's and has remained in the same family since 1931. The current trustees are grandchildren to Dr Hewlett Johnson, the then ‘Red’ Dean of Canterbury Cathedral, who purchased the property thanks to its perfect positioning, to be at one with nature. Surrounded by lawns to three sides, along with a hidden courtyard, it's a secluded location with sweeping views of the bay. There are two entrances - one entering a utility room and the other accessing the property via a large hallway. The ground floor features a number of communal rooms, alongside two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a cloakroom.

Kicking off muddy boots or sandy flip flops in the utility room, a door leads through to a large kitchen with a large traditional range cooker. Terracotta tiles are laid in a herringbone pattern, and there is ample storage space in the wooden fronted kitchen units, finished with a black marble effect worktop. A central island counter provides additional countertop preparation space, or alternatively a sociable space to gather around with a glass of wine, cold beer or a paned (cup of tea). Chefs within the group will love preparing a tasty meal in this gorgeous kitchen, and serving in the beautiful dining room through the hallway. A large 200 year old mahogany dining table that takes up the central space. For the budding musicians of the house, a beautiful piano is calling out to be played after dinner. The decor is complimentary to the age of the property, with bold brightly tiled fireplaces and coving around the ceiling.

A stairway in the central hallway of this unique holiday cottage with stunning views over Cardigan Bay leads to the first floor of the property which is equally impressive. With six bedrooms of varying sizes, the first floor also features a kitchenette, two bathrooms and second lounge area. Similar in style to the downstairs lounge, the first floor lounge has the same westward aspect and comfortable furnishings. A number of fabric sofas and armchairs surround a large coffee table with a couple of armchairs perfectly positioned in the large bay window, ideal to share those sunset moments over a glass of wine or fizz.

If you're not sold on this property yet, then you're in for a treat with the additional facilities outside of the main house. A games room housed within a wooden outbuilding includes table tennis, table football and a dart board. Ideal for teenagers wanting escape from the grown-ups for a while. A pathway from the rear of the house leads to the second outbuilding which houses the property's spa facilities. Yes, you heard that right. The door opens into a large room with a number of lounge chairs set in a circle, next to a cosy log burner in the corner, as well as a kitchenette. A door leads from this room into a large traditional sauna made from Kelo wood from the Finnish Arctic circle - the perfect retreat and relaxation area for the adults after a hard days exploring. A sliding door leads from the building into a beautiful courtyard area with large fire pit to the centre, surrounded by log benches and seating. To the rear of the courtyard, an outdoor kitchen area includes a large brick built outdoor pizza oven and barbeque. As if this wasn't enough, heading to the other end of the courtyard, passing a private outdoor shower, a pathway through a round circular doorway in the stone wall (The Moongate) leads to a large hot tub overlooking the sea. These facilities are pure luxury and in the most fantastic setting, making Llys-Tanwg a fantastic and desirable property for your break in North Wales.

Located south of the village of Harlech, the unique holiday cottage with stunning views over Cardigan Bay has one of the best settings in the area. The private grounds surrounded by woodland are set high on a hill, with unobstructed views of Cardigan Bay, the Llyn Peninsula and the sweeping golden beach and sand dunes of Harlech. The scene is truly spectacular, finished off by the mountain backdrop of Eryri (Snowdonia) in the distance. You may not want to leave the property, but there are a host of fabulous destinations on the doorstep. Head to the beautiful town of Harlech and wander among the narrow streets, boutique shops and quaint cafes. Visit the magnificent Harlech Castle, located on a rocky outcrop dominating the surrounding landscape, or take a walk down (and back up) one of the steepest streets in the world.

The spectacular beach in Harlech boasts miles of golden sand flanked by huge dunes. A walk along the boardwalk to the beach builds up anticipation with a huge reveal of the epic views across the bay to the Llyn Peninsula. Further afield, a short drive north leads to the Italianate village of Portmeirion on the banks of the Dwyryd Estuary. Wander amongst the beautiful colourful buildings designed by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis in 1925. For outdoor adventurers, Coed y Brenin Forest Park is the ideal destination for cyclists, being Britain's first purpose built mountain biking centre. There are also walking trails, orienteering courses and a cafe. There's something for everyone in North West Wales, and this is the perfect destination for larger groups who are looking for a variety of activities to suit everyone.

From Harlech: Heading south from Harlech on the A496 past the railway station, continue along the road south for a mile and a half. Where the road curves around to the left, at the crossroads take the left turn next to the Fron Deg B&B. Heading uphill, take the second left onto Cae Garw. Rather than continuing to the right on this road, continue straight ahead onto a private drive which leads to Llys-Tanwg.
