Glasfryn is a traditional two bedroom pet friendly property in Dolgellau, close to all the amenities the town has to offer. Sleeping up to five people across two bedrooms, this historic three storey stone terraced house is ideal for a family or group of friends wanting to explore southern Eryri (Snowdonia).
A step leads from the road through a gate into a small front yard and to the front door. Entering the property, the front door opens into a cosy lounge and dining area. Two fabric sofas and an armchair are situated around a pine coffee table. An LED TV is located on a side unit next to a beautiful fireplace built into an exposed stone wall, with slate lintel and hearth. A nest of tables sits to the far end of the fireplace with a DAB digital radio, so whether it's a cosy night in front of the TV, or a social evening with some great tunes playing in the background, this room provides the perfect relaxing space. Continuing through to the dining area, a stunning antique range and fireplace is built into the wall - a fabulous feature in the room. A four seater dining table is located to the rear of the room, alongside a large bookcase with some board games.
A doorway from the dining area leads into Glasfryn's kitchen, to the rear of the property. The compact kitchen, built into an extension, features a glass door, large window and skylight allowing natural light to flood in. There are units to three walls, with an electric oven and hob to one end leading around to a worktop and sink with washing machine, along with cupboard space under. The return unit to the right features additional worktop space, along with a small fridge, wall cupboards and a microwave positioned on a shelf. A toaster and kettle are also included. To the rear of the property, accessed from the kitchen, a small landscaped garden provides a patio area with outdoor bistro table and chairs. The space is cosy, and perfect for al fresco dining, or relaxing with a drink of an evening.
Stairs lead up from the lounge area of the traditional two bedroom pet friendly property in Dolgellau to the first floor, which includes a double bedroom and bathroom. The double bedroom to the front is decorated in neutral colours with a sandy coloured carpet laid on the floor. A pine framed double bed is flanked by two bedside cabinets and table lamps. The opposite wall features a beautiful black painted cast iron Edwardian fireplace and a pine chest of drawers with mirror over. A second door opens into a storage cupboard. The spacious first floor bathroom includes a bath with shower over, pedestal sink and WC and ample storage for toiletries dotted around the room. The floor is tiled and the walls are tiled to two sides, with the reminder painted grey.
From the first floor landing, stairs lead up to the top floor of the property which features the second bedroom and a shower room. To the rear of the landing, a desk area is set up in the corner, providing space to work or to use a laptop during the stay, if required. The bedroom, located to the front of the house, includes a double bed and single bed, sleeping three. The beds are of a pine framed construction, sitting alongside pine bedside cabinets, dressing table with drawers and a metal framed open wardrobe with shelving under. Built into the eaves of the property, exposed timber beams add character to the room. Next to the bedroom, the shower room comprises a corner walk in shower unit, pedestal sink and WC. Again, there is ample toiletry storage space in this room.
The location of this fabulous traditional two bedroom pet friendly property in Dolgellau is ideal for guests wanting to make use of the amenities of the town centre. It's only a couple of minutes to walk from Glasfryn to a whole host of pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops within the town. Dolgellau is great starting point for some fantastic walks including the Mawddach Trail, a nine mile path following the picturesque Mawddach Estuary from Dolgellau to Barmouth. The accessible route is ideal for walkers and cyclists alike, with spectacular scenery and diverse wildlife. Looking for a more challenging hike? A fifteen minute drive will take you to the start of a walking route to Cader Idris, the highest mountain in southern Eryri. At 893m, it's not an easy hike on any of the recommended routes, but it is definitely worthwhile.
A few miles north of Dolgellau, Coed-y-Brenin Forest Park is a haven for mountain bikers or hikers, in a stunning woodland setting. There are a number of world class biking trails through the forest ranging from novice to hard core technical.
Heading west from the Glasfryn, the seaside resort of Barmouth is less than a twenty minute drive. A pretty seaside town, Barmouth has a large expanse of golden sand beach to explore and provides an awesome vantage point for the mountains of Southern Snowdonia. Heading north east, the lakeside town of Bala is popular with water sports fans. The Bala Adventure and Waterports Centre on the shores of Llyn Tegid provides a number of activities on the lake and in the surrounding area. Try your hand at water sports including kayaking, windsurfing or sailing or for a more relaxed experience, hire a boat or paddle board to get out onto the water. Other activities available include abseiling and mountain biking. There's something for everyone. This area of Southern Eryri is a fabulous base for a trip to North Wales. With epic mountain scenery, dense forests and spectacular coastline, it's a great alternative to the busier spots in the heart of the National Park.
