Ficerdy is luxury accommodation in a Grade II listed property. As you approach the property, its exterior is impressive with high apex roofs and beautifully restored stonework. The lovely interiors and stunning views make this a fantastic destination holiday cottage.
The actual cottage is half of the building; the right half and is accessed by a door on the side wall. Downstairs are two sitting rooms and a kitchen. The larger of the sitting rooms benefits from a huge, stone inglenook fireplace with log burner. Two minimal, but beautifully upholstered sofas accompanied by handmade bespoke wooden furniture make this room simple with the colours used bringing warmth. The smaller sitting room, again has a log burner and TV, but is more of a room to retreat to if you want a bit of down time.
The slate floors in the kitchen are a lovely touch which work really well alongside the white units with oak tops. All new and modern appliances, including a double range oven are here. The large sash window looks out onto the grounds and brings a lot of light to the room. The dining table in here seats six. The kitchen has a great feel to it and is certainly going to be a place to congregate.
Upstairs there are two doubles and a twin. One of the doubles has an ensuite while the other two rooms share a family bathroom. The stairs leading up are beautifully restored floorboards which carry on through to the upstairs hallway. All the rooms are a good size with beautiful soft furnishings and furniture.
The family bathroom located up here has a large walk in shower, tiled throughout with modern fittings and colour scheme is very in-keeping with the rest of the house.
The cottage has its own private garden area; a small lawned area with a patio which is a lovely space to sit and eat if the weather permits.
The cottage is based on the outskirts of Caernarfon in a small village called Llandwrog. Close to Dinas Dinlle beach and all the adventure activities that the area has to offer especially with Glasfryn Parc just down the road. The Lôn Las Ogwen cycle path running from Lake Ogwen to Bangor then connecting to the north Wales coast cycle path is close by. This cottage is the ideal base to walk the North Wales coastal path and the Llyn Peninsula.
A little further down the coast will bring you to the famous Portmeirion Village, Pant Du Vineyard and a number of famous Medieval Welsh Castles as well as Penrhyn Castle in Bangor. A trip to nearby Menai Bridge, Caernarfon and Pwllheli is worth the trip to experience excellent Welsh cuisine and culture.
There are lots of activities nearby that will keep you entertained. Being so close to the mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia) there are endless opportunities for walking and climbing. Why not try all kinds of watersports or fishing on the Menai Straits. Other adventure activities including climbing, coasteering, sailing, karting and surfing which are all available in the area.
