If staying in a totally unique and original holiday cottage is on your wish list, then this converted water mill full of character features is going to be right up your street. Set in rural North Wales, the attention to detail to create this beautiful space can be seen throughout the property. The original water mill takes centre stage downstairs surrounded by exposed stone walls and beams. The use of glass walls to create rooms which become private when you draw floor to ceiling curtains in the evening are a fabulous addition to maintain the light and views of the mill during the day.
The cottage itself is a semi upside-down house with the kitchen downstairs and the sitting room upstairs and a bedroom on each floor. Starting down stairs, you come directly into the galley style kitchen with slate floors and cream wooden units topped with granite work tops – it is a minimal style kitchen but rest assured there is everything you will need to cater for your group while you are here. From the kitchen, you head straight through into the dining room which has a long wooden dining room table that will comfortably seat 6. There is also a log burner in here which adds warmth to the downstairs.
From the dining room, brings you to the first double bedroom. Two of the walls are made of glass enabling you to see the old water mill on the back wall. Don’t worry, those staying in this room won’t be on show as there are floor to ceiling curtains that can be pulled for privacy.
You can see the full workings of the old mill which is a fantastic feature of this property – it will have members of your group entertained for hours working out its mechanics. The stairs to the upper floor go up past the mill
Upstairs is a very open sitting room. Apex ceiling and bespoke furniture with an additional log burner gives this room a lovely, cosy feel. The second double bedroom up here is larger and retains the simple and elegant decor that runs throughout the cottage. The bathroom is located up on the second floor - a shower over bath set up with WC and washbasin. The wow factor in the bathroom is the bespoke wooden doors. A perfect addition to this converted water mill full of character features.
There are lots of great walks straight from the front door of this converted water mill full of character features - set on a farm lane, it has a rural feel, but you are not far from some great villages and towns to explore. There is also a lovely secluded patio area at the cottage itself for you to sit and enjoy your surroundings.
5 minutes from Aberdesach, this small stretch of unspoilt coastline is known to be a bit of a secret escape by those in the know – one of those places handed down from generation to generation — it’s beautiful and certainly where you will be spending your beach days.
A little further afield, 15 minutes to the north is the town of Caernarfon and it’s famous medieval castle and a great market town with shops and restaurants to enjoy; especially by the harbour.
Pwllheli is about 25 minutes to the south where you’ll find the harbour and a great place to go sailing. A big market town on the Llyn Peninsula, there are some restaurants and cafes to enjoy a bite to eat and there are lots of independent gift shops to mooch around and get some memories of your holiday.
Plas Glyn-y-Weddw is just up the road towards Abersoch which is an old stately home that has been converted into a fabulous art gallery, gift shop, and cafe – a great place to spend an afternoon, especially with the beach 5 minutes down the road, complete with a restaurant on the waterfront - I strongly recommend going here for lunch or an evening meal; its great.
Most people head up Y Wyddfa (Snowdon) from Llanberis on the far side of the mountain, some 30 minutes away by car, or going by car to Rhyd-Ddu takes you through the stunning Nantlle Valley. An assent from the nearer Rhyd-Ddu offers a path less travelled for experienced walkers. The nearby Clynog mountain range is also very popular with keen walkers.
Zip World is 40 minutes inland towards Bangor and 30 minutes south will bring you to Portmeirion Village. as you can see you are well located to enjoy a real mix.

Things to do in Caernarfon
Faesog is on a small country road 200m north of the small hamlet of Tai’n Lon. There is a small ford to cross just before the cottage. On the very rare occasion when heavy rain makes it difficult for vehicles to cross the ford, guests are asked to make the final 100m on foot.
From The South, Porthmadog, head north on the A487, direction Caernarfon. After approx 8.6 miles in the village of Pant Glas turn left onto an unnamed road, direction Clynnog. Follow the road for 0.9 miles, follow the road as it turns sharp right direction Clynnog Fawr and continue for another 1.9 miles before turning right onto another unnamed road, direction Tai’n Lon. After passing through the small hamlet of Tai’n Lon (with cottages close to the road) continue for another 200m before taking a sharp left turn onto a farm track. Faesog is the first property on your left after crossing the ford.
From the North, Caernarfon, head south on the A487 for 3.2 miles direction Pwllheli. At the roundabout take the second exit onto the A499 direction Pwllheli and continue for 4 miles. In the village of Pontllyfni turn left onto an unnamed road, direction Tai’n Lon for 1.5 miles. At t junction turn right, and continue for 0.1 mile before taking the first left, direction Tai’n Lon. After 500m turn left onto a farm track. Faesog is the first property on your left after crossing the ford. If you get to the small hamlet of Tai’n Lon you've gone slightly too far.
