Located deep in the Conwy Valley and surrounded by beautiful landscapes and lush forests, Bwthyn Tyddyn is a romantic cottage for two in Betws-y-Coed. Situated at the gateway to the Eryri National Park (Snowdonia), this beautiful cottage is housed on a stylish lodge park less than ten minutes’ walk to the heart of the village.
A pathway leads to the front door of this former miners cottage, leading directly into the ground floor open plan living space. The stone cottage has been lovingly renovated to create bright and modern interiors while retaining the charm of the historical building. To the left, a spacious lounge area comprises a beautiful brown leather sofa and teal fabric armchair, set around a coffee table overlooking a fireplace with an electric log burner. Slate tiles are laid to the floor, with underfloor heating, a slate hearth and oak surround to the fireplace. A smart TV sits on the wall above the fireplace, and a freestanding lamp in the corner provides cosy lighting in the evenings. The opposite side of the cottage is home to a kitchen diner area, with modern wooden shaker units finished in grey with a solid granite worktop. With built-in oven and microwave, gas hob, combined washer/dryer and the all-important wine fridge, it's the perfect kitchen for cooking up a hearty meal and relaxing at the dining table in the evening, or at breakfast while planning the day ahead.
An oak staircase to the centre of the cottage leads to the beautiful bedroom of this romantic cottage for two in Betws-y-Coed. With a king size bed flanked by stylish white bedroom furniture, a patterned Welsh blanket on the bed and chequered blinds are finished in earthy tones. The adjacent bathroom is beautifully decorated and stylish with a freestanding roll top Victorian bath, alongside a walk in shower, WC and basin. With slate flooring and grey wood panelling to the walls, this beautiful bathroom is a great space for a relaxing soak in the evening after a day exploring the stunning surrounding area.
Bwthyn Tyddyn also features a private outdoor space, by way of a slate patio area to the rear of the property surrounded by a low level stone wall. With a cast iron furniture set, it's the perfect spot for al fresco dining while gazing out at the beautiful landscapes all around.
You couldn't ask for a better base to explore Eryri than Betws-y-Coed. This pretty mountain village, known as the gateway to Snowdonia, is a thriving hub for visitors to the area, packed full of outdoor and gift shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. With all of this at only ten minutes’ walk from your romantic cottage for two in Betws-y-Coed, there are plenty of options to explore on foot without even getting in the car. From Betws-y-Coed, a number of walks either follow the river that runs through the heart of the village, or that venture into the surrounding pine forests. With natural beauty spots such as Gwydir Forest Park and Llyn Elsi on the doorstep, throw on your hiking boots or get on your mountain bike and explore. It's just over a mile and a half from Bwthyn Tyddyn to the spectacular Swallow Falls, or Rhaeadr Ewynnol - one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Wales.
For thrill seekers, there are a number of nearby activities to set the pulses racing. Zip World Fforest, across the river from Betws-y-Coed is home to Fforest Coaster and a number of other thrilling attractions. Whizz through the forest at 25mph on a toboggan with high speed twists and turns, or test your mettle by standing on a trapdoor 100 feet above the ground for a freefall drop on Plummet. For underground adventures, the nearby Go Below offers caving adventures including via ferrata, zip lines and more deep in the cavers below Eryri.
Heading deeper into the national park, all the main hotspots are within a thirty minute drive, or if you’re looking for quieter hikes away from the crowds then the Carneddau mountain range offers some fabulous walks with wonderful views of the surrounding landscapes, stretching as far as the North Wales coast. Whatever your plans, this fabulous cottage is the ideal spot to soak up the beautiful surroundings of the area.

Things to do in Betws Y Coed
From the A55:Exit the A55 Expressway at Junction 19 and head south on the A470 towards Betws-y-Coed. Continue for 16 miles passing through the village of Llanrwst. Shortly after passing Zip World Fforest, take a right at the T Junction signposted onto the A5 to Bangor and Betws-y-Coed. Continue through the village and upon leaving the other side look for signs on the left hand side to Hendre Rhys Gethin Lodge Park where you will find the property.
