With a rural location in the very heart of Ynys Môn, this beautifully renovated barn conversion set in the heart of the Anglesey countryside is centrally located to explore all the island has to offer. With rocky cliffs to the north and the Menai Strait to the south, the island's east and west coasts are dotted with lovely sandy beaches and bays. Among Anglesey's top attractions are striking lighthouses, medieval castles, and surreal copper mines. Heading south to the Menai Strait, you'll find the towns of Beaumaris and Menai Bridge. Beaumaris, a coastal town with Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian architecture is also home to the impressive Beaumaris Castle, a late 13th century fortress built by King Edward I during his conquest of Wales. With great eateries and boutique shops, Beaumaris is also the starting point for a number of boat tours from the pier taking in sights such as the nearby Puffin Island. Menai Bridge, further east, is also a popular spot for dining and drinking, as well as being home to attractions such as Rib Ride, providing high adrenalin boat trips along the Menai Strait, passing under the imposing Menai suspension bridge built by Thomas Telford in 1826 - the world's first suspension bridge.
A trip to Ynys Môn wouldn't be complete without stopping at a few lighthouses. The island's northwest corner is home to the magnificent South Stack Lighthouse and Visitor Centre, as well as an RSPB reserve where a variety of seabird colonies nest on the cliffs. The island's eastern tip is home to the Trwyn Du Lighthouse at Penmon Point. One of Wales' most enchanted locations is Llanddwyn Island, which is located on the west coast of Anglesey. This tidal island, which is accessible from Llanddwyn Beach at Newborough Warren, has a rich historical background and is associated with the tale of Santes Dwynwen, the patron saint of lovers in Wales. Many walking pathways traverse the island, leading to the magnificent lighthouses situated at its tip. It's a romantic scene.
Family-friendly, educational, and conservation-focused sites such Pili Palas and the Anglesey Sea Zoo are available in Ynys Môn and are well worth a visit. If you're in the mood for something sweet, head inland to Melin Llynon, where a 1770's windmill stands. The owner, a famous patisserie chef, has expanded his business to include chocolate bars called Siocled and, more recently, Mônuts, which are delicious donuts prepared fresh on site that are not to be missed, in an effort to earn money to renovate the windmill. With its laid-back charm, Anglesey is an ideal place for a holiday in North Wales, thanks to everything it has to offer.
