Welcome to Bodelen, a charming stone cottage in the heart of Llanbedr that now happily welcomes two four-legged guests. Set snugly between the mountains of southern Eryri (Snowdonia) and the sweeping sands of Cardigan Bay, it’s the perfect spot for a cosy North West Wales break with friends, family, and furry companions.
Step inside this end-terrace gem to find a freshly renovated interior that mixes modern comfort with original character. The hallway opens into a warm and inviting open-plan living space, where two sleek grey sofas curl around a coffee table in front of a handsome stone chimney breast, home to a glowing log burner. Whether you’re diving into a good book, swapping stories over a glass of wine, or catching up on your latest streaming addiction via the Smart TV, this is a space that knows how to do 'cosy' properly.
Behind the lounge is a clever kitchen-diner combo that punches well above its weight. Wood-fronted units, a big American-style fridge freezer, a proper electric oven with hob, dishwasher, and plenty of prep space are all on hand to fuel your adventures. A half-height wall keeps the space open yet defined, with a dining table for four offering a prime perch for breakfast planning or a laid-back supper. A downstairs cloakroom and back door lead out to a sweet little garden – ideal for a morning cuppa or letting the dogs have a sniff around.
Upstairs, two comfortable bedrooms provide restful spots to recover after beach walks and mountain hikes. The master bedroom is decorated in soothing greys with a handsome metal bedstead and rustic floorboards, complete with a chest of drawers and open wardrobe. Next door, the twin bedroom comes in fresh green tones, with cushioned headboards and plenty of storage. The bathroom features a shower over the bath, basin and WC – clean, crisp, and contemporary.
Whether you’re off to the hills, dipping your toes in the sea, or simply want a quiet escape with your pups in tow, Bodelen is an ideal base. It’s the kind of place that feels like a warm hug – and not just because of that cracking log burner.
Bodelen's location is perfect for anyone who enjoys mountain exploration and coastal breaks, as well as learning about the local culture and history of the area. Situated on a terraced street in the charming village of Llanbedr, shops, restaurants, and mountain bike rentals are just a short stroll away. The Wales Coast Path in the Morfa Dyffryn National Nature Reserve, with its wild and lovely golden sandy beaches and spectacular sand dunes, is only a short drive or slightly longer walk of a few kilometres. Moving inland, it's not far to the Rhinogydd mountain range, which offers several hiking paths up to the summits of Rhinog Fawr and Rhinog Fach. Though less well-known than the more crowded areas of Eryri (Snowdonia National Park), these vistas are fantastic to explore in solitude.
The charming town of Harlech, with its pretty courtyards, unique stores and cafes, is only 10 minutes' drive to the north of this cute stone cottage with wood burning stove in Llanbedr. Standing atop a rocky outcrop in the town with breathtaking views of Bae Ceredigion (Cardigan Bay) and the hills of Snowdonia National Park, the major landmark is the majestic Harlech Castle, built in the thirteenth century. One of the nicest sandy beaches in Wales is located in Harlech, and visiting the town is not complete without seeing it. Keen golfers should also visit the well-known Royal St. David's Gold Club, which is surrounded by sand dunes, and offers fabulous views of Snowdonia and the castle.
From the property, it's just a fifteen-minute journey south to the well-known seaside destination of Barmouth. Situated on the brink of the Mawddach Estuary, Barmouth offers a wonderful views of the mountains, which act as a backdrop to the well-known Grade II listed railway bridge - the longest timber viaduct in Wales and among the oldest in Britain. Barmouth offers numerous excellent walking routes, one of which is the Mawddach Trail, which travels inland following the former track of an ancient railway line in the direction of Dolgellau.
From Harlech: Heading south from Harlech on the A496, the road heads into the village of Llanbedr after three miles. Passing through the village with the Victoria Inn on the left, cross the bridge and Bodelen can be found at the end of the first row of terraced houses on the right. Roadside parking is available, but limited, on the street.
From Barmouth: Head north from Barmouth on the A496 for 7.5 miles into the village of Llanbedr. After passing the Hafan Artro pub on the right, continue for a short while and Bodelen can be found at the top end of the row of terraced houses on the left.
