Welcome to Beudy-Talsarnau, where rustic charm meets modern comfort, and the views are so good they deserve their own Instagram account.
Step through the solid wooden door and you’re greeted by a light-filled open-plan living space that makes the most of the barn’s heritage. Chunky exposed beams crisscross overhead like a giant’s game of pick-up-sticks, and vaulted ceilings give a sense of airy spaciousness. Slate floors underfoot add to the authentic feel, while leather recliners invite you to flop down with a cuppa (or a glass of wine from your welcome hamper yes, there’s bara brith too).
The kitchen runs along one wall with warm shaker cabinets, tiled splashbacks and everything you need for a self-catering break – double oven, microwave, and enough worktop space for even the most ambitious holiday bake-off. Set the dining table beneath the beams for family feasts or a lazy breakfast as sunlight pours through the big windows.
Two bedrooms keep things simple and restful. The double room has soft neutral tones, fluffy pillows, and warm bedside lighting for late-night page-turners. The twin room is cheerful and colourful, perfect for kids or friends who don’t fancy sharing. The modern bathroom adds a little luxury with marble-effect tiles and a walk-in rainfall shower – perfect for washing off sandy toes after a day at Harlech beach.
Outside, a large enclosed patio catches the sun all day. Sip your morning coffee as you watch the mist lift over the estuary or enjoy an al fresco supper with views stretching towards Portmeirion and the mountains beyond. It’s dog friendly too, so your four-legged family members can join you for those scenic adventures.
Beudy-Talsarnau is the kind of place where you can disconnect from the daily grind without feeling cut off – there’s Wi-Fi, a Smart TV and plenty of board games for rainy days. But with so much to explore nearby, you’ll probably spend more time out than in.
Tucked away on the edge of the small village of Talsarnau, Beudy-Talsarnau feels wonderfully peaceful while still being close to everything you’ll need. The large enclosed patio is ideal for dogs, children, or simply sitting back to soak up the stunning estuary views towards Portmeirion.
A short stroll down the lane brings you to Talsarnau’s welcoming pub – perfect for hearty meals and a pint after a day out. For more choice, Porthmadog is just a short drive away with its excellent selection of shops, cafés and restaurants.
Head in the other direction and you’ll reach Harlech, home to a spectacular sandy beach and Harlech Castle perched dramatically on the hillside. Portmeirion’s whimsical Italianate village and gardens are also within easy reach, while Eryri’s (Snowdonia’s) mountains, trails and scenery are all waiting to be explored.
Whether you’re after coastal walks, castle-hopping, or simply a place to sit and admire the view, Beudy-Talsarnau puts it all on your doorstep.
