Sleeping 16 guests across 7 bedrooms, this pet-friendly cottage near Cardigan is the perfect blend of comfort and charm, ideal for large families, friends, or anyone who thinks a holiday should involve a hot tub and at least one goat.

Formed by cleverly combining two cottages at Wellstone Farm, Certws-Y-Ffynnon gives you all the space you need to spread out and relax. Inside, the main living area is warm and sociable, with a log burner at its heart, comfy seating all around, and a 50” internet-connected TV for evenings when the only adventure you’re after is a good film and a glass of wine.

Two fully equipped kitchens give you flexibility, whether you’re cooking a group feast or just making a quiet cuppa away from the crowd. There’s a large dining area big enough for everyone to sit down together, and a second lounge space if some of you want to sneak off with a book (or a nap). The layout makes this property ideal for multigenerational groups or several families holidaying together.

The sleeping arrangements are thoughtfully laid out to give guests both privacy and practicality. In the larger part of the property, you’ll find three twin rooms upstairs, with a double room and a family room (double plus bunks) on the ground floor. In the smaller cottage section, there’s a double and a twin, both located upstairs. With seven bedrooms in total, there’s a mix of cosy retreats and family-friendly sleeping spaces to suit everyone.

There are three bathrooms altogether: two upstairs bathrooms, each with a bath and shower, plus a ground-floor wet room and an extra WC for added convenience. Outside is where the fun really begins. The hot tub overlooks open countryside and a paddock where the resident llamas tend to gather for their daily people-watching. You’ll also find BBQs, fire pits, outdoor seating, and cotton hammocks for lazy afternoon lounging. Beyond the cottage, the 23-acre smallholding offers river access, wild swimming spots, woodland trails, and a disused railway line that makes a brilliant off-lead dog walk or shady summer stroll.

The animals are a highlight here. As a working smallholding, Wellstone Cottages is home to llamas, goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, ducks, geese, and two exceptionally friendly cats named Peg and Fez. Les, your host, takes little ones to feed the animals a couple of mornings a week - giving your kids magical memories and giving you a well-earned lie-in.

Dogs, cats, tortoises and even the occasional gerbil are welcome guests here. All we ask is that dogs are kept on leads in the immediate cottage grounds, and under control when enjoying the wider estate, especially near the alpacas and camping areas. We don’t charge extra for pets, but we do appreciate it when guests leave no trace - particularly of muddy paws or chewed furniture.

Certws-Y-Ffynnon offers a break that’s as peaceful or as playful as you make it. Whether you spend your time soaking in the tub, swimming in the river, swinging from ropes, or simply watching the clouds drift by with a curious llama nearby, one thing’s for sure - you’ll leave here more relaxed than when you arrived.
