Welcome to Ysgubor-Cerbyd, a two-bedroom barn conversion where rustic Welsh charm meets boutique interiors and yes, the bedrooms are on the ground floor. It's called upside-down living and once you've had your morning coffee looking out over rolling Pembrokeshire fields from your first-floor kitchen, you'll wonder why we don't all live this way.
Let's start downstairs. Both bedrooms are king-size: one fixed double, the other a zip-and-link that's ready to split if the kids can't agree on sleeping arrangements (or if you're travelling as two couples). The shared bathroom is sleek and modern, with a walk-in shower, basin and toilet all conveniently on the ground floor. No midnight stair-climbing required.
Now head upstairs to the heart of the home. Exposed beams and sloping timber ceilings give this open-plan kitchen/dining/living area a true sense of occasion. The shaker-style kitchen comes dressed in deep charcoal and brass, with high-spec appliances waiting patiently for your local market finds (or the M&S dine-in deal no judgement). The dining area seats four comfortably, and the sofa invites you to curl up with a book or queue up Netflix on the smart TV after a day exploring.
Step outside into your private garden, complete with patio furniture and a BBQ that's calling out for summer evenings and local seafood. There's off-road parking right next to the property and a key safe for easy self check-in. Oh, and did we mention it's pet-friendly? So your four-legged friend can join in on the Pembrokeshire adventures too.
Ysgubor-Cerbyd is one of two beautifully converted outbuildings on the same farmstead, perfect if you want to bring a few extra family members along. Each property has its own private outdoor space and separate parking. If you're looking for a bolthole where you can beach-hop by day and stargaze by night, you've just found it.
Set amid peaceful Pembrokeshire countryside, Ysgubor-Cerbyd strikes the perfect balance between rural tranquillity and seaside convenience. A cosy village pub is less than a mile away, so you can enjoy a pint of local ale without needing the car.
Within 3 miles lies the vast golden sweep of Pendine Sands – a beach famous for its land speed records and perfect for picnics, sandcastles and letting the dog run wild. A little further afield (15 minutes’ drive) brings you to Tenby, with its pastel-painted harbour, medieval town walls and sandy beaches. Saundersfoot is equally close for seafood suppers on the seafront.
Nature lovers will want to tackle sections of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, while history buffs can explore Carew Castle & Tidal Mill or Laugharne’s Dylan Thomas Boathouse. And when it’s time to restock supplies, there are farm shops, markets and supermarkets all within easy reach.
At the end of the day, head back to your private garden, fire up the BBQ, and soak up the last of the evening sun in this little corner of West Wales.
From Carmarthen head west on the A40. At the roundabout take the first exit on the A477. Continue for about 7 miles. Turn off the A477 at Folly Cross sign posted for Colby Woodland Garden.
Follow the road until T-junction then turn right.
Follow the road for half a mile and the property is on the right.
