A stunning converted property, The Longbarn is an impressive Grade 2 listed luxury barn near Ruthin, set in a beautiful location with uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside. With three double bedrooms, each with private bathroom, it's a wonderful property for a large family, group of friends but also an ideal location for couples and individuals. Within walking distance of Ruthin, this North East Wales location is ideal for exploring the dramatic landscapes of the The Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a number of pretty market towns nearby.
A side door in the private enclosed garden opens up into the old dairy barn's utility room to the end of the building. Featuring a washing machine, tumble dryer and sink, it's the ideal spot to take off muddy walking boots and coats before heading into the main living space. A handy downstairs cloakroom can also be accessed from the utility. From the utility, a stable door leads into a large modern kitchen, designed in a traditional style. The U-shaped kitchen units, finished in Hague Blue with stunning Carrara Venatino worktops, a marble like quartz, a top of the range material. There is a built in dishwasher alongside a double inset Belfast sink. With a microwave, toaster, kettle and Nespresso machine, along with a large range cooker and double door American style fridge freezer, this is a fabulous kitchen to self-cater for the group. Finishing off the kitchen, a large wooden framed butchers block island counter, finished with a slate top is located centrally, doubling up as a bar counter to relax, drink and socialise.
A sliding wooden door leads into The Longbarn's spacious and beautiful open plan living space. The full height vaulted ceilings show off the original oak roof trusses of the building, retained to ensure the character of this stunning building remains. The windowsills of the barn are made from the original slate from the cow stalls - another careful design feature. Oak flooring is laid throughout and the whitewashed walls create a bright and airy space, especially with beams of sunlight cascading through a number of windows and the large glazed entrance of the front wall. The dining table, located to the kitchen end of the room, sits next to double doors opening out onto the patio, with beautiful views beyond. Continuing through, the comfortable and cosy lounge area features a number of large fabric sofas and armchairs, located around a central coffee table on a large patterned rug. A wood burner sits on a slate hearth, providing warmth and a cosy atmosphere. Modern style light fittings with exposed filament bulbs hang from the high ceilings over both the lounge and dining room. A smart TV is located in the corner of the lounge.
To the far end of the lounge, a door leads through to the first of three bedrooms, the only one on the ground floor. The en-suite double room is simply decorated, stylish and bright. A super-king sized zip and link bed is flanked by two bedside tables with lamps, alongside a dressing table and a cosy Chesterfield fabric armchair which is located in the corner next to an arched wooden door leading out onto the patio. The en-suite, located to the corner of the room, includes a walk in shower cubicle, WC and basin. Open staircases to both ends of the living space lead to the remaining two bedrooms, located to each end of the Grade 2 listed luxury barn near Ruthin. Above the ground floor bedroom, a second bedroom with a similar layout includes a metal king size framed bed, bedside cabinets, an antique chest of drawers and cosy armchair. The third bedroom at the opposite side of the barn is accessed via the second stairway, which leads onto a landing leading to both the bedroom and a separate bathroom. This master bedroom is fabulous, built into the eaves of the barn with exposed beams, low level windows to both sides and a full height window at the end of the bright room. Traditional in style, the floral king size divan bed sits between two antique bedside tables with an ottoman located to the bottom of the bed. The bedroom also features a dark wood chest of drawers and dressing table, open wardrobe and full height mirror. The adjacent bathroom is spacious with a corner shower cubicle, WC, basin and storage unit along with the addition of a bathtub, perfect for a relaxing soak after a day out exploring the beautiful surrounds.
It's not just the inside of The Longbarn that is stunning - the exterior of the building and outdoor space is equally impressive. Stepping out from the door of the open plan living area past two bay trees, a large patio runs the length of building. With a border full of fragrant herbs, shrubs and flowers, the setting is calm and serene, with views directly out onto the surrounding fields of sheep. Take a seat on the curved wooden bench for an alfresco breakfast surrounded by morning birdsong, or spend an afternoon lounging on one of the comfortable sun loungers with a good book. There's a lawn for the children to play and further seating areas dotted around. To the side of the property, a covered Loggia or Garden Room area is a wonderful spot to enjoy social evenings dining outdoors. With a large outdoor dining set, further lounge seating and an an electric Pit Boss Grill barbeque, the outdoor festoon lights and fairy lights create a cosy and warm ambiance for social evenings outdoors.
Although the location of this Grade 2 listed luxury barn near Ruthin is quiet and rural, it's only a mile or so to the centre of the market town itself. A relaxing walk to the town will reward you with a host of wonderful dining options, bars and lovely boutique shops. Visit Ruthin Craft Centre on the edge of town, or take a historical tour through Ruthin Gaol. Take a walk through the grounds of the 19th century Ruthin Castle, now a hotel, and maybe stop off for a quick drink before continuing to explore.
North East Wales is a great area to explore for outdoor lovers. Families should head to nearby Loggerheads Country Park, with a number of woodland riverside walking trails along with shopping and dining facilities. For keen hikers, it's only a short drive toward Moel Famau - the tallest of the peaks along the Clwydian Range, and a popular hiking route offering 360 degree views across North East Wales. Venture further along the Clwydian Range on the Offa's Dyke Path which spans the length of Wales from North to South. Surrounded by other nearby towns such as Corwen and Llangollen, and only a short drive to the beaches of the North Wales coast, The-Longbarn is a great all round property to visit.
From the A55 East and Chester: Heading west on the A55, take exit 33b for the A494 towards Mold. Continue on the A494 along the Mold Bypass and follow signs for the A494 to Ruthin / Rhuthun. After 12 miles, approaching the outskirts of Ruthin, take a right turn onto the B5429 signposted Llandyrnog (opposite the Griffin Inn). Continue on the B5429 for a mile or so, and at a crossroads take a left turn with a blue cycle route sign for Ruthin onto a narrow lane. Continue along the lane for half a mile and The-Longbarn is accessed via a driveway on the right.
From Corwen: Heading north from Corwen, follow the A494 towards Ruthin and continue for 12 miles. Once in the centre of Ruthin, at the main roundabout, take a right turn onto Market Street and the A494 signposted for Mold. Continue along this road and at the next large roundabout, take the third exit continuing on the A494 to Mold. Just after exiting the roundabout, take a left turn onto Greenfield Road and continue along the lane for a mile to find The-Longbarn accessed via a driveway on the left.

The Longbarn at Caerfallen is easy to find being just a mile outside of Ruthin. The Postcode is LL15 1SN The entrance What 3 Words is eclipses.diverged.prongs From Ruthin take the Mold road off the large roundabout next to Tesco and almost immediately take a left turn onto Greenfield Road. Follow this road out in to the country for about 1 mile and you will see the entrance to The Longbarn on your left. There is a wooden gate to open onto the private drive down to the barn. There is ample parking for at least 4 cars on gravel at the barn and more on grass next to the barn. There is a key safe box on the left of the door into the utility room from the Garden Room.
