Tyddyn Sarn is a traditional farmhouse holiday cottage on the Pen Llyn. With hot tub and games barn, it sleeps up to eight. Ideal for a family break.
If you hanker after a bit of rural idyll on your holidays, Tyddyn Sarn could be the perfect holiday cottage for you.
You’ll find this lovely traditional farmhouse in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty mid-way between the Pen Llyn's north and south coast. It offers comfortable accommodation for up to eight people.
Expect rolling countryside, oodles of peace and quiet and a definite sense of ‘being away from it all’. There are far-reaching sea views from most of the rooms in the house and the seaside towns of Abersoch and Aberdaron are each a short (about 15 mins) drive away.
Having said that, a well-equipped games barn (pool table, darts, ping pong, Playstation 2, giant Connect-Four and table football) and a large outdoor hot tub with wonderful views across the rolling countryside mean you don’t necessarily have to leave the house to have a brilliant fun-packed holiday. There’s plenty of enclosed outside space for children to run around.
The interior of the house is spacious and bright, with enough room for guests to spread out and do their own thing if they want to. A large living room has two separate seating areas, with a wood burning stove and supply of logs to keep things toasty when the weather calls for it.
There’s a well-equipped farmhouse kitchen with dishwasher, range cooker and a large oak dining table. It’s a nice sociable space and the perfect place to come together for happy holiday mealtimes.
You’ll find an en-suite double bedroom on the ground floor, with three further bedrooms upstairs – one double, one twin and a room with bunk beds – together with a good size family bathroom.
Outside there is a separate building with a utility shower room – perfect for bike storage and a drying area for any wet or muddy clothes. There’s an outside tap for washing bikes and boots.
On the western edge of Eryri (Snowdonia), this is a place where majestic mountains of North Wales meet the open promise of the Irish Sea and Cardigan Bay. The Llyn is on one of Britain’s oldest pilgrimage routes and an Area of Outstanding Beauty. On both counts it’s not hard to see why.
Expect soaring mountain views, rolling countryside, spectacular sunsets and some of the UK’s most beautiful coastline and beaches. Look out for Whistling Sands at Porth Oer - named after the sound the sand makes under your feet - and Mynnydd Mawr with its knock-out panoramic views over Bardsey Island. They’re just a couple of our favourites.
The Llyn’s sandy beaches and sheltered bays are brilliant playgrounds for all sorts of watersports including windsurfing, waterskiing, sailing, SUP and surfing – but they’re also great for the more traditional seaside pursuits of paddling, swimming and sandcastling too.
An abundance of quiet country lanes and cycle tracks make this a great place to bring along the bikes, and if you like walking you’re in for a treat. You can access the whole 95-mile coastline of the Llyn by following the spectacular Wales Coastal Path from Caernarfon to Porthmadog.
