Beudy-Mach is a unique holiday cottage in an idyllic location high above the Dovey Valley in Southern Eryri (Snowdonia). This quirky carbon neutral property provides self-catering accommodation for up to 8 people in the most wonderful rural setting.

A lonely farm road leads guests up through fields of grazing sheep to this distinctive converted barn. Entering through the thick double glazed doors you are greeted by a wonderful open space that houses the kitchen diner. High vaulted ceilings sit above a luxurious oak floor. A reclaimed dining table and chairs sit proudly in the middle of the space whilst to the side, a rustic kitchen backs onto the original and exposed stonewall of the barn. A modern gas cooker is included as well as all the other crockery and utensils that you might need. But it’s fair to say that this cottage does not have the wealth of appliances that some of our other more modern cottages have. It’s all about character and sense of space in Beudy-Mach.

Opposite the entrance another double glazed door leads out onto a magnificent veranda. From this elevated position guests can look across to Cader Idris on the far side of the valley and then down over Machynlleth towards Aberdovey itself.

Back inside, a mezzanine floor splits the other end of the barn. The ground floor is reserved for the seating area. A traditional log burner commands centre stage surrounded by distinctive and carefully selected furniture and fixtures. A staircase near the front door leads us above. A wrought iron bed stands on more oak flooring and yet more funky furniture creates another spectacular space. With the curtains thrown open guests can look down onto the kitchen area and demand coffee and toast.

Back through the kitchen we enter the eastern end of the barn. Three bedrooms here altogether. There is one smaller child’s room with a single bed plus and additional foldaway bed if required. Next door accommodates a larger double bed. There is also a small shower room in this part of the barn and a larger bathroom with wc and sunken bath. A spiral staircase leads us to the fourth and last bedroom. Another comfortable iron king size bed sits under the slanted roof of the barn. Lots more individual ornaments and fixtures to enjoy in all the bedrooms.
