Llwyn-Y-Coed-Isaf is a 3 bedroom bungalow in Dolgarrog, 10 minutes outside Conwy, on the northern border of the Snowdonia National Park. I’ll have to mention the view first. It’s just fantastic. An uninterrupted panorama across the valley. The Conwy River slowly winds its way to the sea flanked by beds of golden reeds as shadows dance across the rolling hills on the banks beyond.
Naturally the house has been arranged so that guests can enjoy the view from almost every room in the house. But the lounge does it best perhaps. Large comfortable sofas, a nice telly and fire are all included. But best of all are the large patio doors that overlook the valley below.
The dining area is the other end of the room and sits 6 quite comfortable. This open plan arrangement is perfect for younger families giving the children the opportunity to escape towards the telly when they get bored of the grown ups conversation.
Great view from the kitchen too. And a nice modern fitted kitchen complete with large fridge and dishwasher. The freezer and washing machine are in the adjoining utility room.
Three bedrooms in total. All well proportioned and nicely laid out. One bedroom has a king sized bed, the next has a double bed and the third has twin beds. All of them have plenty of wardrobe space, bed side lamps etc and the linen has been carefully chosen and go well with this light and cheerful property. Two bathrooms with wc’s. One has a spacious shower the other has a shower over bath arrangement. The heating and hot water run off a oil fired combi boiler so an unlimited supply of hot water is assured.

Like me, you may not be as familiar with this northern part of The Snowdonia National Park. But the rolling hills and wide valleys are a pleasing contrast to the more rugged peaks and troughs in other parts of the Park. And Llwyn Y Coed Isaf is a great base from which to explore.
Conwy town centre and it’s famous medieval castle is only 10 minutes away. And Conwy’s sandy beach and golf course are another 5 minutes further on. The RSPB nature reserve is also worth a visit. Llandudno, a popular shopping town for locals and tourists, is 20 minutes away to the north. Betws Y Coed is a quieter more picturesque town to the south. This town of course, is very popular with adventure sports enthusiasts. Speaking of which the celebrated Marin Mountain Bike Trail sets off from Llanrwst, just 10 minutes down the road. The trail is 25km long and includes some big climbs and steep single track descents so not for the faint hearted.
Other, gentler attractions you should visit includes the wonderful Bodnant Gardens, the National Food Centre also on the Bodnant Estate, the roman spa and woollen mill at Trefriw and the Welsh Mountain Zoo at Colwyn Bay. Ramblers will revel in the fact that the Carneddau Mountains are right on your doorstep.
There are two pubs in the village, both serving food. These are within easy walking distance as is the village shop, the post office and the butchers.

From the East (Chester) follow the A55 towards Conwy. Exit A55 at junction 18 and follow signs for Conwy town centre. After crossing the bridge take 1st left onto B5106 direction Llanrwst. Travel for 6.5 miles before turning left onto private farm track. Just before Dolgarrog School. Llwyn Y Coed Isaf is the last house off to the left.
Follow the South (Betws Y Coed) follow the A55 towards Llanrwst. On entering Llanrwst take the first left turn over narrow bridge onto B5106 direction Trefriw. Travel for 5.5 miles before turning right onto private farm track just after Dolgarrog School. Llwyn Y Coed Isaf is the last house off to the left.
